Sunday is the 4th of July and most of us will be either sleeping in late, spending time with family or getting over a nasty hangover. Whatever the case may be, unless you have to attend to some live cell culture or lab rats there is a good chance that you are not going into the lab.
Since you’ve decided to visit the American Biotechnologist on your holiday weekend, we will not disappoint. Here are a few interesting tidbits that we’ve found keeping in the spirit of the day:
- Famous Births, Deaths and Events from Today in Science History
- a collection of fun science projects for the 4th of July
- do it yourself firecrackers (link to audioclip)
- and of course, last but not least, the 4th of July Exploding Watermelon and smoke bomb rings (especially effective when using blue, red and white) from Steve Spangler (see the videos below)
Wishing you a Happy and Safe 4th of July!
